About ABECA Technology Solutions
Independent by Design. Accountable by Choice.
Founded in 2009 and operating as a full RCDD consulting practice since 2015, ABECA exists to close the gap between what owners invest in and what actually gets built.
The Company
ABECA Technology Solutions is an independent Division 27 and 28 low-voltage consulting firm based in Sand Springs, Oklahoma, serving clients across North America. Founded in 2009 as a manufacturer's representative firm, ABECA has operated as a full RCDD consulting practice since 2015 — built on the premise that owners deserve a hands-on, independent advocate rather than just a drawing set.
ABECA does not install, manufacture, or distribute. Its only interest is making sure a project's technology investment becomes the standards-based system it was designed to be — from the first infrastructure conversation through the system's working life.
Why Independence Matters
Every installer and manufacturer rep in the room has something to sell you — the cable, the hardware, the labor. ABECA doesn't. That independence isn't a marketing position; it's the structural reason our clients get an honest assessment instead of a sales pitch dressed up as a recommendation. No preferred vendors. No installation revenue to protect. No conflict between what we tell you and what's actually in your best interest.
Meet the Founder
Dr. John M. Thurber, RCDD, CSI, is the founder and CEO of ABECA Technology Solutions, an independent Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD) consulting firm specializing in Division 27 and 28 low-voltage infrastructure. He holds a Bachelor of Theology, Master of Theology, Doctor of Religious Education, and Ph.D. from Destiny Christian University, in addition to his BICSI RCDD certification.
Before founding ABECA in 2009, Thurber spent eleven years in the telecommunications industry in roles including Specifications Engineer at Leviton Voice & Data, Global Account Manager at CommScope, Regional Vice President at Datacom Sales & Associates, and COO of Crisp Communications & Electric. ABECA began as a manufacturer's representative firm and has operated as a full RCDD consulting practice since 2015 — seventeen years in business and thirty-one years in the industry, and counting.
He started ABECA to close a gap he kept seeing on project after project: Division 27 and 28 work is specialized enough that it often falls outside what a construction manager, general contractor, or installing crew can reasonably be expected to master on top of everything else on their plate. ABECA exists to close that gap — partnering with the GC and the installing contractor, cradle to grave, so the money an owner invests becomes the standards-based system it was meant to be.
His designs and installations span North America across healthcare, education, gaming, hospitality, data centers, government, and tribal broadband, among other verticals. Thurber writes industry white papers, has authored three books, and speaks at conferences and churches across North America and beyond. He lives in his hometown of Sand Springs, Oklahoma, with his three children.
