Division 27 & 28 Consulting Services
The Full Lifecycle. Not Just the Drawing Set.
ABECA's design work gets the attention, but design is one stop on a longer path. We work the entire lifecycle of a low-voltage system — before a cable is spec'd, while it's being installed, and for as long as the building is in use.
Eight service areas. One independent firm.
Design & Engineering
RCDD-stamped construction documents, technology/vendor evaluation, specifications & bid support.
We produce RCDD-stamped Division 27/28 construction documents built to BICSI and ANSI-TIA standards — not boilerplate, not repurposed specs from a prior job. Every design is specific to the project, the owner's requirements, and the applicable codes. We also evaluate technology options and vendors without a preferred-vendor relationship, and we support the bid process with specifications that give contractors a clear, complete scope to price.
Structured Cabling & Fiber
Copper & fiber backbone design, warranty & application-assurance review, BICSI/ANSI-TIA compliance.
Copper and fiber cabling systems are the foundation everything else runs on. We design horizontal and backbone distribution for copper and fiber — including singlemode and multimode — to BICSI TDMM and ANSI-TIA standards. We review manufacturer warranty and application-assurance requirements so the system qualifies for the coverage the owner is paying for, and we document compliance so there's no ambiguity at closeout.
Passive Optical LAN (GPON)
Fiber-to-the-desktop design, singlemode backbone planning, IT-closet consolidation.
Passive optical LAN eliminates active electronics from the distribution layer, reduces IT closet count, and cuts long-term operational cost. We design GPON systems from the optical line terminal through the splitter network to the optical network terminal at the work area — including singlemode backbone planning and the IT-closet consolidation that makes the architecture viable. We work with any OLT vendor; we don't have one to sell you.
Wireless & Distributed Antenna Systems
Cellular DAS coordination, public-safety ERRCS compliance, Wi-Fi planning.
In-building wireless is infrastructure, not an afterthought. We design distributed antenna systems for cellular and private wireless, coordinate with carriers and AHJs, and plan Wi-Fi deployments for coverage and capacity. For public-safety radio, we design BDA/ERRCS systems to IFC, NFPA 1221, and local AHJ requirements — so the system passes inspection and first responders have the coverage the code requires.
Technology Audits & Assessments
Infrastructure audits, code/standards compliance review, deficiency documentation.
We audit existing infrastructure against the standards it was supposed to be built to — BICSI, ANSI-TIA, IFC, NFPA — and document what we find. Deficiencies are recorded with enough specificity to drive a remediation scope. We also perform pre-construction assessments to establish a baseline before new work begins, so there's no dispute later about what was there and what was added.
Construction Administration & Owner's Rep
Inspection visits, GC/installer coordination, closeout review.
Design intent doesn't survive construction automatically — it has to be verified. We perform scheduled and unscheduled site visits, review submittals and RFIs, coordinate with the GC and installing contractor, and confirm that what's being installed matches what was designed. At closeout, we review test results, as-builts, and warranty documentation so the owner receives a complete, defensible record of the system.
Sustainability & Waste-Conscious Delivery
Distributor/manufacturer packaging coordination, green documentation.
Low-voltage projects generate significant packaging and material waste. We coordinate with distributors and manufacturers on packaging reduction, document sustainable practices for LEED and other green-building programs, and help owners meet sustainability commitments without adding scope or cost to the installing contractor.
Vendor-Neutral Advisory
Independent recommendations, RFP/spec development, lifecycle cost guidance.
When an owner needs to evaluate a technology, select a platform, or develop an RFP, they need advice from someone who doesn't benefit from the outcome. We provide independent technology recommendations, develop RFP and specification language that produces competitive, comparable bids, and model lifecycle cost so the decision is based on total cost of ownership — not the price on the quote.
"Every other voice at the table is selling you something — the cable, the hardware, the labor. ABECA isn't."
